Admission Requirements for Applicants with Criminal Histories

At Wilmington University we are dedicated to finding opportunities for all applicants. We are committed to treating applicants with criminal histories with respect and in accordance with all applicable laws.

Delaware Code Title 14 Chapter 90B lists the offenses, or equivalent laws of any state or under any military, territorial, foreign, tribal or federal law, that Wilmington University will review prior to notification of admission. Admission Requirements

  1. Submit an Application

A $35 non-refundable application fee is required.

  1. Submit Docket Sheets

You are able to obtain docket sheets from the court system in the county in which the charges were filed. Please upload a PDF copy of this document in your Admissions Portal.

  1. Criminal Background Check

Wilmington University has partnered with Verified Credentials in order to perform a background check. The cost of this service is $57, payable directly to Verified Credentials.To access QualifiedFirst go to: http://scholar.verifiedcredentials.com/wilmu. Enter the code for the program you will be attending located above the “Get Started!” button on the right side of the page.

Fill out and complete this form electronically in your Admissions Portal.

  1. Explanation of Circumstances Essay

Provide a thorough and detailed explanation of the circumstances that lead to your conviction. This essay is also an opportunity to provide additional information on positive changes you have made in your life since the conviction.


Admission Process

Once you have submitted all required documents your file will be submitted to the Admissions Review Committee. You will receive an email with next steps in approximately 6-8 weeks.
