Biography

Matt Whelihan began teaching at Wilmington University in 2010. Since 2014, he has served as an assistant professor and the chair of the English department. In addition, he is the chair of Wilmington University’s Writing Across the Curriculum Committee, a member of the Delaware Department of Education’s P20 subcommittee on English remediation, and the Faculty Athletic Mentor for the cross country and track and field teams.

Matt holds a bachelor’s degree in English and Communications from Fordham University and a master’s degree in English from Villanova University. Prior to joining Wilmington University, he worked as a freelance journalist, marketing copywriter, and high school English teacher. His journalism and fiction work can be found in publications such as The Carolina Quarterly, Slice, Cleveland Scene, The San Antonio Current, The Free Times, and New Plains Review.
