Praxis Requirements for Licensure

The Praxis Subject Assessments are required for State of Delaware teacher certification in the area of the candidate’s concentration (e.g., middle-level math, secondary education, or elementary education).

Candidates must meet the requirements on these Praxis Subject Assessments according to the State of Delaware guidelines in order to earn teacher certification.

Credit for Praxis

Candidates who take and pass (by meeting DE minimum score requirements) ETS PRAXIS II Content Knowledge Tests for Elementary K-6 Teachers that are required for licensure in Delaware either prior to matriculation or during their first semester at WilmU are eligible to earn college credits for that achievement.  The assessment is a “multiple subjects” content knowledge exam (ETS 7811 - all subtests in one sitting) or individual subtests in English/Language Arts (ETS 7812), Mathematics (ETS 7813). Science (ETS 7814) and Social Studies (ETS 7815). Separate credits can be awarded for passage of the individual subtests, but only for those subtests passed prior to or during a student’s first semester of enrollment.

Credits awarded will be only for the courses as stipulated on the chart below and only after an official ETS score report is presented. This option is only available to a matriculated candidate who has been accepted for admission to WilmU, has declared a major of Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education K-6, and is registered for courses toward that degree.
