Biography

Dr. Matt Wilson is an Associate Professor and Chair of First Year Experience, English as a Second Language and Humanities at Wilmington University.  He also serves as the Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) to the NCAA for the University.  Matt holds degrees in psychology, ministry, and a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Innovation and Leadership.  Dr. Wilson’s dissertation explored the utilization of online communication tools in face-to-face course offerings.  During his time at Wilmington University, he has served on a variety of committees including Chair of the Faculty Senate’s policy committee, curriculum committee, and the Middle States Accreditation Self-Study Steering Committee.  Recently, Dr. Wilson completed two terms as the Vice-Chair of Faculty Senate and then two terms as the Chair of Faculty Senate. 

Outside of his employment, he volunteers in a variety of areas locally and nationally.  Currently, Matt is the Chair of the National Volunteer Advisory Council of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.  He also serves as a board member of Leadership Delaware.  One of Matt’s biggest passions is service work which includes building projects in Mexico, volunteering at food banks and homeless shelters, and extensive disaster relief work with clean up and rebuilding in the Gulf Coast and New Jersey/New York. 

Matt is a renowned speaker having spoken in a variety of arenas nationally and internationally, including several radio, podcast and TV appearances, which include Good Morning America and Inside Edition.  He has been recognized nationally for his diverse work including the Randy Pausch Award and being named one of Delaware’s 40 under 40.
