Biography

Kara L. DiCecco received her Associate Degree in Nursing from Delaware Technical and Community College in Stanton, DE in 1990. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wilmington College in 1994, and her Master in Science of Nursing Leadership/Legal Nurse Consultant focus in 2005. She has nursing experience in hospice care, cardiac step-down, medical-surgical, neurosurgical, and staff development.

She worked as in house LNC for a plaintiff’s law firm from 1995-2009 and obtained her Legal Nurse Consultant Certification (LNCC) in 2000. In 2003, her role in trial work helped to result in the largest plaintiff’s award for medical negligence in Delaware history. She is past Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Legal Nurse Consulting. She has published numerous articles and presented at national conferences on Legal Nurse Consulting. She began adjunct teaching for Wilmington University in 2005, and began as full-time faculty in August 2009. In July 2010, she assumed the role of chair of the MSN Leadership Program at Wilmington University until July 2017. She returned to her passion for full-time teaching in both the BSN and MSN programs in 2017. She will be completing the requirements for her EdD in Higher Education and Leadership Innovation at Wilmington University in Dec. 2018.
