Zoom Media Retention Policy

Zoom recordings are automatically deleted after 120 days with no option for preservation beyond this period. However, all Zoom recordings are automatically uploaded to Kaltura, which serves as an optimal platform for long-term video storage. You can access your Kaltura videos by signing into Canvas, and selecting the "My media" option on the left-hand side.

Also note, student accounts are deleted after a year of inactivity, and you would need to activate your account again if needed. All Zoom recordings associated with your student account are permanently deleted when your account is deleted. You would need to refer to Kaltura for back-ups of more recent recordings. Kaltura videos have their own separate retention policy, found here- Kaltura Video Retention Policy

A system announcement is provided a week before student accounts will be deleted to warn you about the impact. Unlike the automated Kaltura video deletion process, there aren't any individual emails sent out to users when their account is deleted.

The best method for future-proofing your media is to store a local copy on your device, as well as your own personal cloud storage, such as iCloud, Google Drive, or OneDrive.
